DMV granted the license to Mercedes-Benz's L3-class "Drive Pilot" system, which allows drivers to legally take their eyes off the steering wheel, but must be able to intervene in control if needed, the report said. The "Drive Pilot" system can only run on highways at speeds of no more than 40 miles per hour during the day, DMV said in a statement.
