CTOnews.com June 12, according to Reuters, Ford CEO Jim Farley said recently that the price of electric vehicles will not be people-friendly until 2030.

Farley believes that the key to the popularity of people-friendly electric cars is the production cost of the vehicles. He pointed out that in the current environment, most traditional carmakers are still more expensive to develop and build electric vehicles than fuel vehicles. Farley stressed that even after two or three iterations, the electric vehicle may not be able to reduce the cost to the same level as the gasoline car.

Jim Farley said that the cost of producing electric cars in the car industry will not be significantly reduced until at least 2030 because of simplified vehicle manufacturing processes, reduced labor requirements and reduced use of parts. Farley believes that only then will the price of electric vehicles really fall and is expected to be popularized.

In addition, CTOnews.com notes that Farley predicts that automakers will sell electric cars through Internet channels in the future to reduce the cost of sales. Farley says there are now 600000 users of Ford's digital service, three times as many as a year ago.
