CTOnews.com notes that this animation appears to be a derivative of the 2013 Blood Dragon DLC expansion for Far Cry 3, and a fusion of Ubisoft IP and early 90s nostalgia.

Adi Shankar, creator of the series, said,"Seven years ago, I got a call from Ubisoft inviting me to adapt their very, very, very serious IP into an anime," but "I came here with an idea inspired by the atmosphere of Blood Dragon." The concept is based on Ubisoft's vast library of characters, eventually blending them into an intoxicating anime series that will become this love letter to the 90s…or at least my memories of the 90s. "

Shankar describes the series as a violent, dystopian novel in spirit, similar to Aldous Huxley's work, but also a satire, dark comedy, love story and "the most philosophical program you've seen in a long time."
