The mid-and low-end market is in the doldrums, and the report estimates that Samsung will ship less than 250 million phones this year.
CTOnews.com, June 13 (Xinhua)-- Samsung's smartphone shipments are expected to fall to 250 million units in 2023, below the previous target of 270 million, according to South Korean media sisajournal-e.
South Korean media said it was mainly due to the economic slowdown and many other factors, consumer demand for low-and medium-priced smartphones was weak, resulting in a decline in Samsung shipments.
The report says shipments in the first quarter of 2023 were 60 million, down nearly 20 per cent from 74 million last year.
The report points out that the hot sales of the Galaxy S23 series have strengthened Samsung's profitability at the high end of the market, but sales have shrunk sharply due to the downturn in the middle and low end of the market.
Samsung shipped 61.5 million phones in the first quarter of 2023, compared with a 10% drop in the second quarter, compared with a total of 116.5 million in the first half of this year, CTOnews.com quoted TrendForce as saying.
