CTOnews.com June 15, Ericsson China announced today that Ericsson and MediaTek (MediaTek) recently used uplink carrier aggregation, setting an uplink speed record for 440 Mbps (CTOnews.com Note: 55MB/s) in a low-and medium-band 5G network.

Ericsson said that this higher uplink rate will result in higher frame rate (frames per second, fps) and image resolution, resulting in a better and smoother experience for video conferencing users and live streaming users, including anchors and viewers.

This record uplink rate was achieved in Ericsson Lab's Interoperability Development Test (IoDT). The test uses Ericsson RAN Compute baseband 6648 and mobile devices equipped with MediaTek's flagship 5G mobile chip Tianji 9200. The uplink carrier aggregation combination includes frequency division duplex (FDD) and time division duplex (TDD) channels, whose frequency range is widely deployed in today's 5G networks.

The test used a combination of 50MHz FDD N1 and 100MHz TDD N77. By integrating these two bands, operators can improve the uplink rate, thereby improving network performance and user experience.
