CTOnews.com June 16 news, Microsoft yesterday released a preview update of Win11 Build 23481 to the Windows Insider project members of Dev channel. Microsoft said that in addition to removing the integrated Teams Chat, Microsoft has also removed several classic features from the file manager in the Win11 preview.

Citing the content of Microsoft's official blog post, CTOnews.com lists the following file manager features deleted by the preview version:

Hide folder merge conflicts

Always show icons, never show thumbnails

Display the file icon on the thumbnail

Display file type information on the folder prompt

Hide protected operating system files

Show drive letter

Displays pop-up instructions for folders and desktop items

Display encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color

Using the sharing Wizard

Most of the file manager features deleted by Microsoft are not frequently used by users, but some users may use some features frequently. Microsoft says that after these options are deleted, users can get them back by modifying the registry if they need to.

Many users expressed dissatisfaction with Microsoft's removal of these file manager features. Reddit user ValientKnight666 left a message:

Are you kidding me? These legacy functions are very important! Why should Microsoft adjust its file manager according to the needs of mainstream users, rather than the needs of experienced users? Don't I use Win11 to increase productivity? I really want developers to revert to these changes.
