CTOnews.com June 21, Apple announced that Apple ID users will automatically log in using Passkey starting with iOS 17, iPadOS 17 and macOS Sonoma.

After users visit sites such as icloud.com, appleid.apple.com and appstoreconnect.apple.com, Apple allows users to use Face ID or Touch ID instead of passwords on their login pages.

Apple officially said that Passkey is a security solution to replace passwords. CTOnews.com attached Apple's official instructions as follows:

Passkey is an invisible encrypted entity used to replace passwords. The pass key contains a key pair, and compared with the password, it greatly improves the security.

One of them is a public key, which is registered by the website or App you are using. The other is a private key, which is proprietary to your device.

By using powerful and industry-standard encryption techniques, this key pair helps ensure a close and confidential relationship between the device and the website or App.

Apple said that starting today, users upgrading to iOS 17, iPadOS 17 and macOS Sonoma beta can test this feature on supported Apple login pages, but it is not currently available to all users.
