The popularity of distance education has led to the lack of "soft skills" in the workplace, and American school enterprises have begun to train Generation Z on how to write e-mail.

CTOnews.com, June 21 (Xinhua) as most of the classes and internships are spent remotely during the epidemic, fresh graduates seem to increasingly need to practice their "soft skills." American universities and companies are also embarking on training: from writing emails to chatting in elevators to dressing appropriately at work.

▲ Picture Source Pixabay according to the Wall Street Journal, some companies and universities have begun to train Gen Z employees with basic workplace soft skills to help them adapt to the workplace. Sandy, head of human and organizational culture at KPMG, says the company has begun providing introductory training for employees, including face-to-face communication, such as how to make eye contact and how to interrupt a conversation. Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers launched similar training earlier this year, according to the Financial Times.

Protiviti also expanded training for new employees during the outbreak and said it had provided advice to newcomers on issues such as how to conduct meaningful conversations. Scott Redfern (Scott Redfearn), executive vice president of global human resources, said the company had warned new employees not to wear casual wear, such as blue jeans with holes.

Some American colleges and universities are also involved in related training. Mara McGraw (Marla McGraw), director of career management at Michigan State University, says many business students now need to take courses that develop soft skills, such as how to build face-to-face communication.

At the same time, some CEO say young workers will benefit from spending more time in the office. CTOnews.com previously reported that Meta CEO Zuckerberg said in March that employees who joined the company "in person" performed better than those who joined "remotely" on average. Since then, the company has required employees to work at least three days a week.
