The tool was developed by Toyota Research Institute (TRI) and will be used in the early stages of the creative process. Specifically, it can transform the suggestive text into an effect picture, which can then be selected and perfected by human designers.

CTOnews.com notes that the purpose of the tool is "not to completely replace the human designer and design a new car completely", but to complete the draft according to the designer's requirements when generating the image. For example, considering the chassis size, wind resistance coefficient and other factors, these factors will have an impact on the fuel economy, maneuverability, safety and even ergonomics of the new car.

For example, Toyota designers only need to enter the keywords "smooth lines" or "SUV modeling" and "low wind resistance" and other engineering requirements, the tool can automatically generate some samples according to the requirements to assist designers to complete the design.

Avinash Balachandran, director of the Human Interactive driving (HID) department at Toyota Research Institute, said in an interview with foreign media that "although AIGC is often used as an inspiration for designers, it still cannot deal with complex engineering and safety factors in actual car design. Toyota's technology combines Toyota's traditional engineering advantages with the most advanced AIGC capabilities."
