CTOnews.com, June 22 (Xinhua)-- based on survey data provided by DataReportal, the Watch Face team estimates that more than 1.2 billion people worldwide own at least one smartwatch, accounting for more than 22.5% of the global Internet users, an increase of 9% over the same period last year.

The United Arab Emirates ranks highest by country and region, with more than 1/3 (33.4%) of Internet users (about 3.1 million) owning smartwatch devices.

The Czech Republic ranked second, with 31.6 per cent of Internet users (about 3 million) owning smartwatches, followed by Hong Kong, China, accounting for 30.6 per cent, with an estimated 2.1 million smartwatch users.

India ranks fourth with an adoption rate of 29.1 per cent, with an estimated 201.4 million users owning smartwatches, while Poland ranks fifth with 28.8 per cent adoption, with an estimated 10.6 million people owning smartwatches.

The survey also showed that Internet users between the ages of 25 and 34 most like to wear smartwatches, with 27.2% of women and 26.9% of men owning smartwatches.

The 55-64 age group has the lowest percentage of ownership, although 12.7% of women and 16.1% of men still own smartwatches.
