New Development of Framework 16-inch Modular Notebook: official Shell Skeleton

CTOnews.com, June 23 (Xinhua)-- modular notebook manufacturer Framework will launch a 16-inch Laptop 16 large screen model later this year, with graphics cards, storage, screens, keyboards and other parts that can be replaced by individual users. Framework shares the progress of the new machine from time to time, and the shell skeleton of the laptop was officially unveiled today.

According to reports, Framework Laptop 16 is extremely sturdy and durable, the shell is made of magnesium alloy and machined aluminum parts, the standard thickness is less than 18mm, and the thickness of the unique version will be less than 21mm.

The notebook shell consists of two core mechanical components: the magnesium alloy bottom cover and the CNC aluminum top cover. Both parts are produced by Framework in cooperation with Catcher Technology, one of the advanced shell manufacturers.

In addition to these two main structural components, the notebook includes smaller plastic inner frames and decorative parts, as well as magnetic connections and customizable color frames. These are made of 30-35% recycled polycarbonate (PC) or PC+ABS plastics after consumption.

As previously reported by CTOnews.com, the laptop uses a semi-custom BOE screen with 2560x1600 resolution, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, variable refresh rate up to 165Hz, 1500 DCI-P3 1 contrast and 500 nits brightness. The display module can also be replaced by itself.

Officials say the Framework Laptop 16 is expected to be released this summer, after which bookings will begin.
