Karnataka, located in southern India and the hub of India's information industry, seems to have all the conditions needed for the Tesla superfactory, including a solar park.
On Friday, Karnataka Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of Infrastructure MB Patil said Karnataka was an ideal destination for Tesla to expand into India.
Earlier, in February 2021, foreign media reported that Tesla had chosen Karnataka as the site of his first factory in India.
In May, people familiar with the matter said that Tesla had told Indian government officials that it had proposed to build a production plant for electric vehicles in India, which would produce cars sold in India as well as exported to the international market.
On June 21 this year, Musk held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New York to discuss his possible investment plans in India.
During the meeting, Mr Musk said his electric car company, Tesla, wanted to enter the Indian market "as soon as possible". He added that he plans to visit India next year.
After the meeting, Musk said: "I would like to thank Prime Minister Modi for his support and hope that we can announce something in the near future."
