CTOnews.com American Airlines and Southwest Airlines, the world's two largest airlines, said recently that a large number of pilot privacy information had been leaked due to hackers attacking their supplier Pilot Credentials.

It is reported that its supplier Pilot Credentials found that on April 30 this year, hackers entered the company's system for managing pilot certificates and stole a series of information files of pilots and flight driving school students. A total of 5745 pilots of American Airlines were leaked, and 3009 pilots of Southwest Airlines were affected at the same time.

American Airlines revealed that hackers stole the pilot's social security number, driver's license number, passport number, date of birth, pilot certificate number and other various information, which can be described as the pilot's information.

CTOnews.com has learned that the two airlines have cancelled their partnership with supplier Pilot Credentials and notified authorities of the major data breach. American and Southwest both said they would no longer use suppliers and that pilot data would be re-encrypted and stored in the airline's local database.
