As we all know, you can achieve more efficient heat transfer when you open the top cover of the CPU and place the radiator directly on top of the processor, but you will lose the warranty, so it is not recommended for beginners to do so.

Owl CEO Roland Mosig said that when you open the lid and use the radiator, the performance improvement is very significant, the typical cooling range can be up to 10-15 °C, and in some cases can bring nearly 20 °C performance, so he believes this is a very attractive choice for enthusiasts.

It is worth mentioning that you also need to use liquid metal heat transfer material after opening the lid, which can greatly reduce the speed and noise generated by the fan, and achieve a higher frequency if CPU allows.

It is said that to further improve performance, the NM-DD1 can also be used with the owl's new offset radiator bracket (NM-AMB12, NM-AMB13, NM-AMB14, NM-AMB15), which can achieve lower temperatures not only on the regular CPU, but also with the lid open, as the pressure is concentrated on the CCD. It is said that, under normal circumstances, you can get an additional 2 °C heat dissipation improvement.
