CTOnews.com, June 30 (Xinhua)-- A British court recently rejected a request by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to postpone the Microsoft hearing, saying the case is of great significance to many people and should proceed as planned, according to Seeking Alpha.

▲ Tuyuan PexelsCMA had previously said it wanted to postpone the hearing scheduled for July 28 to October on the grounds that the new team of lawyers needed time to interpret the material.

The UK court said in a filing: "this is significant and although there is a lot of material for new lawyers to digest, we expect one month to be sufficient to complete the job-provided CMA chooses lawyers who have time. Given the support of CMA and its existing advisory team, this should not be a problem."

CTOnews.com previously reported that CMA rejected Microsoft's offer to buy Activision Blizzard in April and reiterated the decision to the UK Commerce and Trade Commission in May. Microsoft appealed against CMA in May and stressed that Activision Blizzard's acquisition had been approved in 37 countries, including 27 countries in the European Union and 10 other countries, including China, Japan and Brazil, covering more than 2 billion people. At the request of the court, the two sides will hold a hearing on the matter at the end of July.
