CTOnews.com, July 2, according to the latest news, Apple considered equipping it with a special VR controller in the early stages of developing its virtual reality headset Apple Vision Pro, but eventually abandoned the idea and interacted with eye tracking and gesture recognition instead.

Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman reports in his latest Power On newsletter that Apple tested third-party virtual reality controllers from companies such as HTC in the early stages of Vision Pro development. Later, Apple tried an input device that was worn on the finger, similar to a smart ring.

In fact, Apple patented a smart ring in 2015, but it looked more like a general-purpose wearable device than it was designed for mixed reality headsets.

However, CTOnews.com notes that Apple's headset is compatible with Microsoft and Sony's game controllers, which were originally designed for consoles. Apple's macOS and iOS systems currently support many types of controllers, but it is not clear whether these controllers can also be used on the Vision Pro. Apple has also designed an over-the-air virtual keyboard for the Vision Pro, which can also be used by users.
