CTOnews.com, July 2 (Xinhua) Samsung's Galaxy Watch 5 smartwatch has advanced BioActive sensors that can accurately and reliably track users' health data and fitness activities. But almost all smartwatches, whether Samsung or other brands, seem to have trouble reading health and exercise data from tattooed wrists.

The ink used in tattoos can prevent a smartwatch from judging whether a user is wearing a watch, resulting in health and motion sensors not being turned on and functions such as wear detection not working properly.

CTOnews.com notes that this problem exists in most smartwatches, even Apple's Apple Watch. But the good news is that Samsung is looking for a solution. In a recent reply to users, the moderator in charge of Galaxy Wear apps on Samsung community forums said that Samsung developers are adding a feature that should improve wear detection for users with tattoos on their wrists. The moderator said the update will be released in the second half of 2023.

According to this vague schedule, this feature may be part of the upcoming One UI Watch 5 and Wear OS 4 updates. The latter should first appear on the new Galaxy Watch 6 series and then launch for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 5 series after the Unpacked event on July 27.
