Meta publishes IGL, an intermediate graphics library based on Vulkan and OpenGL, to improve the consistency of cross-platform game rendering.
CTOnews.com, July 11, Meta recently released the Intermediate Graphics Library (Intermediate Graphics Library-IGL), which is a new cross-platform library for controlling GPU rendering under cross-platform games to improve the consistency of cross-platform game graphics.
It is reported that IGL provides a single low-level interface, and then encapsulates the common GPU functions into the low-level cross-platform interface. This interface runs on all major graphics backends except Direct3D.
Supported rendering backend range:
Metal 2 +, OpenGL 2.x, OpenGL 3.1 +, OpenGL ES 2.0 +, Vulkan 1.1 + and WebGL 2.
Platform scope: from macOS and iOS to Windows, Android and Linux.
