CTOnews.com July 12, AMD graphics engineer Dihara Wijetunga announced in June last year that the classic shooting game "return to German headquarters" will be modified by path tracing. More than a year later, he shared his first video showing the results of his work.

CTOnews.com attached the following demo video. In the 50-second demo video, the modified path tracking image is shown. However, because many details are not perfect, there are still many defects in image rendering.

Wijetunga frankly said that this transformation has no indirect lighting, only direct diffusion and reflection lighting, so there are defects such as too clear shadows.

However, compared with the original "return to German Castle" in 2001, the improvement can be seen with the naked eye in the Widgetunge video.

CTOnews.com learned that return to German headquarters is a first-person shooter developed by id Software and released by Activision in 2001. The single-player and multiplayer parts are developed by Gray Matter Interactive and Nerve Software respectively. As a result of the development of the former German headquarters 3D, id serves as the main developer to guide and monitor the whole development process.
