Lamborghini launches hybrid supercar SC63, which will take part in Le Mans 24-hour endurance race.

CTOnews.com, July 13 (Xinhua)-- Lamborghini has launched a new car, called the SC63, which will compete in the World Endurance Championships (WEC) and American Motor Racing Championships (IMSA) next year, and challenge the famous Le Mans 24-hour endurance race.

The SC63 was presented to the public by Lamborghini CEO Stephen Winkelmann and Technical Director Rubenmore at the Goodwood Speed Festival in the UK to mark the 60th anniversary of Lamborghini and the 10th anniversary of its racing division Squadra Corse. The car, named after Lamborghini's year 1963, will compete with Toyota, Ferrari, Porsche and Glickenhaus in the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race in June 2024.

The SC63 is based on the chassis provided by the French company Ligier, which is one of the four chassis available in the Hypercar category. Lamborghini says SC63 embodies the brand's three core concepts: hybrid, aerodynamics and design.

SC63's hybrid system consists of a newly customized 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine and a uniform motor, whose maximum output is limited to 671 horsepower according to the LMDh (Le Mund Daytona hybrid race) rules. Since all models use the same specifications, the project focuses on "reliability, drivability and efficiency," Moore said.

Moore did not give an official figure for the minimum weight of the LMDh car, which is 1030 kilograms, but he said it was as close as possible.
