CTOnews.com, July 13 (Xinhua)-- McLaren has launched a single-seat sports car designed for the track, called the Solus GT, with a naturally aspirated V10 engine with a maximum power of more than 830hp.

The car, which recently made its debut at the Goodwood Speed Festival, is designed for speed, downforce and lap recording, with a unique carbon fiber cockpit, wide closed wheels and a huge rear spoiler. The car uses a unique hard-shell chassis that weighs less than 1000 kilograms but can produce a downforce of 1200 kilograms when completely tilted.

The car is based on a concept car designed for the "Gran Turismo Sport" video game in 2017 and is now in mass production at car week in Monterey, California.

The Solus GT is powered by a 5.2L V10 engine with a speed of up to 10000 rpm and an output of more than 830hp and 479lb-ft of torque. The car uses a custom seven-speed sequential gearbox that accelerates from rest to 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds. According to McLaren, the car has a top speed of more than 200mph (321.87 km / h).

The driver sits in a centrally mounted, enclosed cockpit and enters through a sliding hatch similar to a jet plane. There is a racing-style fixed seat in the cockpit, which is tailored to the needs of each owner. There is also a carbon fiber steering wheel inspired by a Formula one car and a digital rearview display.

The Solus GT has a limited edition of 25, all of which have been sold, with an average price of more than 3 million pounds (currently about 27.93 million yuan), and the first delivery of the car is scheduled to begin next year.
