CTOnews.com, July 13, UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is preparing to conduct an in-depth investigation into Adobe's acquisition of Figma for $20 billion (CTOnews.com Note: about RMB 143.4 billion). The two companies had previously told regulators that they would not make promises to allay concerns.

CMA said the merger could lead to a significant reduction in competition in the UK market. On June 30, CMA pointed out that Adobe's acquisition of Figma may reduce innovation and may lead to fewer choices for designers of applications, websites and other products.

In addition to the UK, the US and EU are also reviewing the deal. Adobe still hopes to complete the acquisition by the end of the year, but if any agency blocks the deal or extends the review, Adobe will have to reconsider its plans.
