Microsoft: Activision removed from the Steam game platform "call of Duty" is a "complete failure strategy"

CTOnews.com, July 14 / PRNewswire-Asianet /-- according to game media Kotaku, a new document exposed in Activision's Blizzard acquisition court shows that Microsoft believes that call of Duty's move to leave the Steam platform and devote itself to the Development Warfare Network is a complete failure.

▲ source court document CTOnews.com learned that in 2018, Activision announced that the PC version of "call of Duty: black Action 4" will no longer be available on the Steam game platform, but will only be released on its Battle.cn. Activision continued this strategy in subsequent years, and it wasn't until 2022 that call of Duty: world War II was released on Steam.

▲ source "call of Duty" official poster, but for "call of Duty: world War II", Microsoft believes that this is not Activision's "good deeds" for players, but only because Activision Blizzard's Battle.net development plan failed.

During the period when call of Duty did not log on to the Steam platform, Battle.net developed slowly, but the overall number of users of the Steam platform continued to grow, with the number of monthly active users increasing from 67 million in 2017 to 132 million in 2021.

In a court filing on July 13, Microsoft cited the above examples to prove that having a "call of Duty" does not guarantee the success of a platform. Microsoft's legal team says it doesn't matter if call of Duty becomes an exclusive game for Xbox, as some platforms have been successful without call of Duty.
