CTOnews.com July 14 news, game engine developer Unity recently launched a new feature Safe Voice, this technology is designed to detect players in the game chat similar to "greeting parents" inappropriate content.

Unity says the service analyzes the tone, volume, pitch, tone, mood and interaction context of player voice data to help the system and players take action faster.

Unity stresses that the feature "helps build a healthy community to reduce churn." In this regard, in order to reflect the characteristics of different communities, Safe Voice introduces the function of prioritizing the harmfulness of specific words or expressions, and assigning harmfulness scores to different content, so that it can more effectively distinguish between certain types of inappropriate speech and help administrators punish malicious users faster.

Unity says Safe Voice is engine-independent, so it can be used with Unity, Unreal, or other game engines, on Xbox, PS, PC, Android, iOS, and with Unity's voice and text chat solution Vivox.

In terms of privacy protection, Unity emphasizes that recording and sharing conversations requires prior player consent and does not verify personal identity to collect potentially sensitive personal information.

The app is currently in beta, with beta users reporting that if players express many "novel swear words" in a friendlier tone, the system seems to have difficulty identifying them accurately.
