The first domestic sustainable aviation fuel commercial passenger flight completed

CTOnews.com, July 16 (Xinhua)-- according to CCTV, an Air China "low-carbon theme flight" successfully arrived in Beijing from Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, the first commercial passenger flight of domestic sustainable aviation fuel made by wide-body aircraft.

According to reports, the flight will be carried out by Airbus A350 and filled with domestic sustainable aviation fuel with a blending ratio of 10%.

CTOnews.com note: sustainable aviation fuel refers to the fuel that meets the sustainability standard and comes from biomass, catering waste oil and other synthetic hydrocarbon-containing raw materials that meet the civil aviation jet fuel standard after processing.

Compared with traditional fossil fuels, sustainable aviation fuels generate up to 85% less carbon emissions from raw material collection to end-user use.

The sustainable aviation fuel used in this mission is provided by Sinopec Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Co., Ltd., using Sinopec's independent intellectual property rights of bio-aviation coal production technology, using catering waste oil as raw materials.

The fuel was approved by the Civil Aviation Administration in September 2022 and was certified by the Global Sustainable Biomaterials Roundtable.
