CTOnews.com, July 16 (Xinhua) according to Famitsu magazine, Yukio Sugino, president and chief operating officer of Sega, said it would be difficult to narrow the Sega Sega Saturn game console to a mini version.

Yukio Sugino said: "Sega Saturn's performance is unexpectedly high, so miniaturization is also very difficult. I don't think this is a situation of saying, 'make another one because it sells well.' it looks like it's going to take a while. I hope to reconsider this issue when we can openly collaborate with people who have always loved Sega Saturn and Dreamcast."

Sega Saturn is the same generation of game consoles as Sony's PlayStation and Nintendo's N64. Sony has launched a classic version of PlayStation, while Nintendo has not yet continued its pioneering trend of introducing mini consoles.

Last June, Yosuke Okunari, Sega's classic hardware producer, said he had considered making mini versions of classic games consoles, but that making parts for Dreamcast or Sega Saturn was too expensive.

The Dreamcast is Sega's last home game console, marking the end of the Japanese company's nearly 20 years in the console hardware market. However, despite its short life, the console has produced a number of widely acclaimed game series.

CTOnews.com notes that Sega has already launched two mini reproduction game consoles. The first Mega Drive Mini was released in 2019 and the Mega Drive Mini 2 was launched in June last year.
