Spanish antitrust regulators imposed fines of 194 million euros on Apple and Amazon
CTOnews.com, July 18 (Xinhua)-- according to Reuters, the Spanish National Commission for Market and Competitiveness (CNMC) said on July 18 that Amazon and Apple had been fined a total of 194 million euros (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 1.564 billion yuan) for colluding to restrict the free sale of Apple and competitors' devices on Amazon's Spanish website.
CTOnews.com noted that in July 2021, CNMC began to investigate possible anti-competitive behavior of Apple and Amazon in selling electronic products online in Spain. "this [restrictions imposed by Apple] will affect third-party retail of Apple products and advertising of Apple competitors' products, reducing competition in the Internet retail market for electronic products," CNMC said at the time.
At the same time, Amazon's restrictions could strengthen the company's position in providing marketing services to third-party retailers through the Spanish online platform.
