Microsoft and Activision Blizzard sign an agreement to extend the deadline for completing the deal to October 18
CTOnews.com, July 19 (Xinhua) Microsoft and Activision Blizzard signed an agreement to extend the deadline for completing the acquisition to October 18, Bloomberg reported.
Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard has so far been approved by 39 governments, and the biggest obstacle to the deal is the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), which rejected Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard in April, fearing damage to competition in the cloud gaming market.
CMA said on Monday that it had held "fruitful" discussions with Microsoft on potential remedies, but CMA has so far maintained a veto. Negotiations in the UK are expected to take days or even weeks, and the CMA has pushed back the deadline for the release of the final decision to August 29.
CTOnews.com previously reported that Sony and Microsoft had reached a "binding agreement" on July 16 to ensure that call of Duty would continue to be released on PlayStation.
