CTOnews.com, July 20 (Xinhua)-- after talking to Asian supply chain companies, Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Tom O'Malley believe that Apple has delayed plans to launch a fourth-generation iPhone SE in 2024. The phone was expected to feature a 5G modem designed by Apple, but it doesn't seem to be ready yet.

Apple has been planning its own modems since 2018 and acquired most of Intel's smartphone modem business in 2019 to strengthen this capability. However, Qualcomm is likely to continue as a supplier of modems to the new Apple iPhone SE and iPhone 16 series, according to the analysts.

In February, Apple analyst Guo Mingyi predicted that the next iPhone SE would have a design similar to that of the standard iPhone 14, meaning the device would have a 6.1in OLED display, Face ID and a straight frame. However, because the release of the new iPhone SE has been delayed, Apple's plans for the device are likely to change over time.

CTOnews.com noted that Guo and many other sources do not believe that the next-generation iPhone SE will be available before 2025, so it seems that third-generation products can still be purchased. The third-generation iPhone SE, released in March 2022, has a 4.7-inch LCD display, Touch ID, 5G, 1200-megapixel rear camera and A15 bionic chip, making it the cheapest iPhone model in Apple's product line.
