Microsoft expands Edge browser sidebar to third parties
CTOnews.com July 22, Microsoft announced in a press release today that it will open the sidebar of Edge browser to third-party extensions, allowing developers to create a variety of features.
Microsoft said that different users will put forward different needs when using Edge browsers, so Microsoft has developed three additional features that allow developers to customize the sidebar to meet user needs.
CTOnews.com attached here is a functional description as follows:
Enable the default sidebar on all sites by setting the default sidebar, you can choose to display consistent content or extensions in all open tabs. The default value remains the same between sessions, ensuring a seamless experience. Interested users can visit here to find the available sample code.
Enable the sidebar to call the sidepanel.setOptions () function for a specific site to ensure that users automatically open the sidebar when they visit certain sites (whitelist). Users can customize the whitelist according to their needs.
Switch between different sidebars: call the runtime.onInstalled () function to welcome users through a dedicated sidebar. When they navigate to different tabs, they transition seamlessly to the main side panel. It's all about providing a personalized touch experience.
