CTOnews.com, July 25 (Xinhua)-- Twitter, a world-renowned social media platform, recently announced that it will change its name to "X", causing widespread concern and doubt among the industry and users. The renaming plan was proposed by Twitter's new boss, billionaire Elon Musk, who thinks the letter "X" is cooler and better reflects the future direction of Twitter. However, the decision was not supported by San Francisco residents, where Twitter is based.

On July 25, Twitter began removing signs on the outer walls of its headquarters building at 1355 Market Street in San Francisco. However, in the middle of the demolition work, San Francisco police showed up at the scene and asked for a moratorium on the demolition. According to netizens, this is because Musk did not get a license to use the crane. However, the local police later said that it was just a misunderstanding, that no crime had been committed, and that it did not fall within the jurisdiction of the police. Police said they pushed work orders to remove the logo, but did not communicate with security guards and building owners, the San Francisco Standard reported.

CTOnews.com noted that due to the disruption of the demolition work, the Twitter logo was left with the letter "er", and it was not clear when the demolition work would resume. Musk said in a Twitter voice chat last night that he would use a flamethrower to cut the Twitter logo off the building.
