Supply chain news: Apple is considering launching a collapsible iPad in the future

CTOnews.com July 25, DigiTimes reported that Apple is considering launching a foldable iPad. The report cites sources in the upstream supply chain and is consistent with previous rumors about foldable iPads.

In January, Apple analyst Mingxi Kuo predicted that the foldable iPad would be released in 2024, but Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and DSCC CEO Ross Young said they had not heard of such a device. Guo Mingxi said that the foldable iPad will adopt a new design and come with a lightweight and durable carbon fiber stand. Similar to foldable phones from brands such as Samsung and Google, the foldable iPad will have a hinge that opens and closes like a book, providing a larger display than existing models when unfolded.

The exact specifications and price of the foldable iPad are unclear, but it could be higher than the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which starts at $1099 (CTOnews.com notes: currently about 7902 yuan). Apple hasn't released any devices with foldable displays yet, but rumors suggest the company is considering all options for the long term, including foldable iPhones, iPads and Macs.
