The factory in Tesla Fremont is shut down for upgrading, suggesting that the Model 3 will be changed.

CTOnews.com, July 26-the Tesla Fremont plant has stopped production for upgrading. A video shared by netizen @ Met God in the Wilderness shows that the logistics area of the plant is empty and the entrance to the site has been closed. At the same time, there is little activity in the manufacturing workshop area of the factory.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on the second-quarter earnings call last week that Tesla would close his production facilities at different times in the third quarter in order to upgrade the factory. "We expect production to decline slightly in the third quarter because we have to shut down in the summer to carry out a large number of factory upgrades," Musk said. as a result, global production is likely to decline slightly in the third quarter. "

Tesla may be preparing for production of the new Model 3 model and doing some restructuring at the Fremont plant where space is limited. In the past few months, the Fremont plant has undergone a number of upgrades, including the installation of new equipment, updating the production line and improving space utilization.

CTOnews.com noted that there have been frequent rumors about Tesla's new Model 3 Highland, which has been found on the road many times in the past few months, and Tesla even submitted some documents with the name Highland at the Fremont factory.

Tesla did not confirm whether the Fremont plant was shutting down and that they had no press department. However, given the usual busyness of the factory, it is hard to imagine any other reason why the factory is so deserted besides the factory upgrade that Musk talked about last week.
