CTOnews.com, July 26 (Xinhua)-- Microsoft has officially confirmed that some Windows 10 and Windows 11 users are experiencing a video coding problem, which prevents applications using WVC1 or VC-1 encoding from playing and recording videos properly, and some cameras or webcams are also affected. This problem is caused by the recent Windows 11 update KB5027303 and Windows 10 update KB5028244.

Microsoft says the way to solve this problem is to perform a known problem rollback (KIR). For consumer and unmanaged corporate devices, this solution may take 24 hours to apply automatically, and users can speed up the application of the solution by rebooting the device. Managed enterprise devices that have problems with affected updates can be resolved by installing and configuring a special group policy. This special group policy can be found in the computer configuration-> Administrative template. Specific deployment and configuration methods can be found in Microsoft's official documentation.

CTOnews.com notes that both Windows 10 (21H2 and 22H2 versions) and Windows 11 (21H2 and 22H2 versions) are affected by this issue.
