CTOnews.com, July 26, according to DigiTimes, sources within Apple's supply chain said demand for the new 15-inch MacBook Air was "weaker than expected" and shipments of the 15-inch MacBook Air in July were 50% lower than originally expected. Sources said that because of this "poor start", some Apple suppliers have been asked to reduce shipments of 15-inch MacBook Air.

▲ Touyuan 15-inch MacBook Air was launched on WWDC last month and starts at $1299 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 9275 yuan). With the same design and M2 chip as the 13-inch model, but with a larger display and two additional speakers, this is the first time Apple has provided a 15-inch display for the MacBook Air, up from the 13-inch and discontinued 11-inch version.

It is unclear whether demand for the 15-inch MacBook Air meets Apple's internal expectations, and the company is likely to share some comments on laptops when it reports third-quarter results on Aug. 3. Other new Mac products introduced by Apple this quarter include upgraded Mac Studio and Mac Pro models.

The report also said that the MacBook supply chain was looking forward to the "upcoming release" of the new MacBook Pro, but did not provide any additional details. It follows news that Apple plans to release a new 13-inch MacBook Pro with an M3 chip later this year. It is widely expected that the M3 chip will be manufactured using TSMC's 3nm process, and the performance and energy efficiency will be significantly improved compared with the existing 5nm M2 chip.
