CTOnews.com, July 27 (Xinhua)-- according to the latest report from market intelligence firm Counterpoint Research, Apple's launch of the foldable iPhone may be delayed until 2025, when the smartphone market will see explosive growth and annual sales are expected to reach 100 million units.

Samsung is currently the leader in the field that foldable phones can provide a larger display area in a smaller form factor. Apple has been adopting a wait-and-see attitude and is in no hurry to launch its own collapsible phone. but wait for the technology to mature and the market demand to be stable. Apple has adopted a similar strategy in the past, such as smartwatches, tablets and other fields, only after other manufacturers launched their own improved products, and achieved great success.

Back in 2021, analyst Guo Mingyi predicted that Apple might launch its first collapsible iPhone in 2023, but it also depends on whether Apple can solve its technical problems at that time. Ross Yang, a display analyst, also supports this view and says 2025 is a more likely date. At present, it seems that sooner or later we will see the advent of collapsible iPhone, although it may be very expensive. It is widely believed that Apple will first launch a foldable iPad, which is likely to go public next year.

Counterpoint Research also believes that 2025 will be the year Apple launched the collapsible iPhone, and based on that forecast, produced a market forecast showing that Apple will help shipments of foldable smartphones reach 100 million units by 2027. Based on this estimate, foldable phones will account for 21 per cent of the high-end smartphone market in 2025 and 39 per cent by 2027, Counterpoint said.
