CTOnews.com, July 28, according to Reuters, Tesla deliberately raised its estimated remaining mileage data at the behest of Elon Musk about 10 years ago, providing an "optimistic" forecast for car owners.

Tesla received so many "false mileage marks" from car owners last year that the company set up a special public relations team called Diversion Team to deal with user complaints.

Musk has been deliberately falsifying the remaining mileage in order to accelerate the expansion of Tesla, CTOnews.com reported, citing Reuters.

The report says Tesla's algorithm will deliberately increase the estimated mileage when the current car is charged more than 50 per cent, while more accurate estimates will not be enabled until less than 50 per cent.
