Fourth-quarter revenue was $2.67 billion (CTOnews.com note: currently about 19.091 billion yuan), down 5% from the previous quarter, and analysts expected $2.52 billion. Cloud revenue fell 18% year-on-year, customer revenue increased 6% year-on-year, and consumer income increased 3%. Revenue for fiscal year 2023 was $12.3 billion (currently about 87.945 billion yuan).

In the fourth quarter, GAAP earned $2.27 per share and non-GAAP earned $1.98 per share, including underutilized charges of $211 million in Flash flash memory and HDD mechanical hard drives. In fiscal 2023, GAAP earned $5.44 per share, while non-GAAP earned $3.59 per share.

David Goeckeler, CEO of Western Digital, ▲ year-on-year data for fiscal year 2023, said: "throughout the fourth quarter and fiscal year, Western Digital continued to optimize our operations and successfully implemented our innovative product roadmap to gain greater profitability when demand for hard drives and flash memory rebounded. Through these efforts, we achieved higher-than-expected revenue and provided our customers with a range of industry-leading products."

Western Digital officials expect revenue in the first quarter of fiscal 2024 to range from $2.55 billion to $2.75 billion (currently about 18.232 billion to 19.663 billion yuan). Non-GAAP earnings per share are expected to be between $2.10 and $1.80, including underutilized charges of $200 million to $220 million in flash memory and hard drives.
