Apple, an American company, is self-sufficient in chips. According to the latest update, Apple bought Intel's 5G modem business for $1 billion (about 700 billion rupees). The rumor about it has existed for a long time, but now it has been stamped. Under the agreement, about 2200 Intel employees will join Apple. Like its existing portfolio, Apple will have 17000 wireless technology patents, which will make it a strong player in everything from cellular communications standards to modems.

Upon completion of the deal, Intel will have the right to develop non-smartphone applications, such as personal computers, industrial equipment and self-driving cars. Let me tell you that modem chips help connect devices such as iPhone to wireless data networks. But Apple has always relied on outside suppliers. Over the past year, Intel has positioned itself as the only source of iPhone modem chips because of Apple's legal dispute over Qualcomm patent licensing.

Apple-Qualcomm surprise: in April, Apple and Qualcomm decided to use Qualcomm modem chips again. A few hours after the decision, Intel announced its withdrawal from the smartphone modem business. If you can see, this is Apple's second biggest deal. In early 2014, the company bought Beats Electronics for $3.2 billion.

After this deal, iPhone chips will also be self-made. Earlier, the company's two main competitors, Samsung Electronics and Huawei, also provided their own modem chips.
