CTOnews.com August 2, Google recently announced that its browser Chrome will launch a new option for website permissions. Users will be able to choose "this time only" to authorize the site to use their own location, camera, microphone and other functions, so that the site can provide a better web experience according to the preferences of users. The feature, which will be available in the desktop version of Chrome 116, covers the three most commonly used permissions: geolocation, camera and microphone.

Currently, when a website asks a user to access functions such as camera, location, microphone, etc., Chrome browsers only offer two options: deny and allow. Soon, a third button will be added: "only this time". The other two buttons change to "allow every access" and "disallow".

CTOnews.com notes that Apple Safari and Firefox Firefox browsers already have similar features. Google says the "allow only this time" option gives users more control because some users are reluctant to make permanent decisions.

Google also said that the new options will make more people willing to authorize. However, website developers should also provide the necessary background information and explain the benefits of allowing access to specific permissions.

Chrome 116 will be released on August 15, 2023, when only three types of permissions on the desktop will be affected. Other features and mobile devices will not be affected by this change.
