According to Forbes real-time wealth tracker, the world's top 10 richest people lost a total of $26.7 billion that day (CTOnews.com Note: Currently about 191.973 billion yuan), of which Tesla CEO Elon Musk lost nearly $5 billion in wealth, the worst loss. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, and Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison also slipped on the rich list for the day.

The main reason for the plunge in U.S. tech stocks was that international rating agency Fitch downgraded some long-term U.S. debt from AAA to AA+, a rare credit downgrade in recent years that raised investor concerns about the state of the U.S. macro economy. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 2.3% on the day, its biggest one-day drop since Feb. 21, while shares of seven tech giants, including Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Nvidia, Meta and Tesla, also fell to varying degrees.

It is worth noting that American Superconductor shares, which rose more than 60% in the previous trading day, also fell sharply, closing down nearly 29% on Wednesday.
