CTOnews.com, August 3 (Xinhua)-- Raspberry pie (Raspberry Pi), a well-known single board computer, has been widely popular for its cheap and easy availability. However, in recent years, raspberry pie has been facing a shortage of supply. Most of the hundreds of thousands of raspberry pies produced each month are taken away by commercial buyers, making it difficult for retailers and end users to buy. Eben Upton, chief executive of raspberry pie, has repeatedly said that 2023 will be a "recovery year" for raspberry pie supply.

According to Upton, monthly production of raspberry pie has recently increased from 400000 yuan to 600000 yuan, 800000 yuan to 1 million yuan, and this level can "continue to eliminate the remaining customer backlog and return to a state of adequate supply."

There are some early signs that supply is returning to normal, at least for some models of raspberry pie. British raspberry pie distributor Pimoroni announced today that it has lifted restrictions on the purchase of 2GB and 4GB raspberry pie 4 and raspberry pie Zero W (excluding the recently launched raspberry pie Zero 2W).

Even if inventory returns to normal, consumers will still have to face the after-effects of supply shortages; the previous "temporary" rise in the price of 2GB raspberry pie 4 has not returned to its original price, and Upton's past claims suggest that the company has delayed the development of raspberry pie 5 to restore inventory of existing models (raspberry pie 4 was launched more than four years ago).

CTOnews.com notes that while waiting for raspberry pie supplies to return to normal, enthusiasts are turning to a variety of other hardware for lightweight tasks that raspberry pie is good at, but some alternatives are not suitable for hardware and software projects designed specifically for raspberry pie.
