Google Chrome updates and removes the "download bar", causing strong dissatisfaction among users

Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen soft media user 1520111 for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com On August 2, Google announced four new mobile features for Chrome, including using Chrome on mobile devices to get search suggestions and view popular topics.

Google also announced a new "download experience" for its desktop browser, removed "downloads" from the toolbar to the right of the address bar, and moved the "download bar" at the bottom to this "bubble" window. This change is effective today for macOS, Windows and ChromeOS devices.

Google said the update was designed to make it easier for users to interact with recently downloaded files, but it was inconvenient for Chrome users who were used to the previous style, causing a lot of complaints from users.

Existing users have found that we can restore the previous style by setting it through the configuration file. You can follow the steps below at CTOnews.com:

First, type chrome://flags/#download-bubble in the address bar

Set this option to Disabled

Then restart Chrome.
