CTOnews.com, August 4 (Xinhua)-- according to the latest research released by market research firm Counterpoint Research, Apple continues to lead the world in smartphone revenue and operating profit, setting records of 45% and 85% respectively in the second quarter of this year.

According to the report, revenue from the global smartphone market was less than $90 billion in the second quarter of 2023, down 8% from a year earlier and 15% from a month earlier, while operating profit was down 3% from a year earlier and 27% from a month earlier.

Harmeet Singh Walia, a senior analyst, said Apple's shipments fell 3 per cent against a backdrop of a 9 per cent decline in global smartphone shipments.

Apple has benefited from an increase in the contribution of the Pro model and a decline in the contribution of the SE model, thus raising the average price of the iPhone model.

Apple's iPhone's revenue in the second quarter of 2023 fell 2% from a year earlier, but it reached 45% of the global mobile phone market, up 3% from the same period last year and setting a new high.

Apple's iPhone accounted for 85% of operating profit in the second quarter of 2023, up 4% from the same period last year.
