From 2.2mm to 1.5mm, the Apple iPhone 15 Pro is compared with the previous frame
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen South China Wu Yanzu for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com August 5 news, South Korean news source yeux1122 posted a rendering on its Naver blog, showing a comparison of Apple iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro models, you can clearly feel the narrowing of the border.
CTOnews.com previously quoted Bloomberg Mark Gulman as reporting that Apple will reduce the bezel size of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max from 2.2mm to 1.5mm thanks to new low-pressure injection molding (LIPO) technology.
Gulman said:
This year, the two biggest changes to the 15 series will bring Apple closer to the iPhone of its dreams. The standard iPhone 15 model will feature a Smart Island screen, while the Pro and Pro Max displays will be made using new technology: low-pressure injection molding, or what Apple calls "LIPO" internally.
The new process reduces the border size around the display to 1.5 mm (the current iPhone border size is about 2.2 mm). The LIPO was first used on the Apple Watch Series 7, making the device's bezel narrower and increasing the size of the display. As far as I know, Apple eventually plans to bring this feature to the iPad as well.
