CTOnews.com, Aug. 5, according to the latest report released by market research firm Canalys, global tablet shipments in the second quarter of 2023 were 31 million, down 11% from a year earlier.

Meanwhile, Chromebook shipped 5.9 million units in the second quarter, up 1 per cent from a year earlier, thanks to the return of demand for education.

CTOnews.com note: broken down by brand, Apple accounts for nearly 2/5 of the global tablet market with 12.3 million shipments.

Although Samsung's shipments fell 14% from a year earlier, it still ranked second with 6 million tablet shipments.

Amazon in third place and Lenovo in fourth place had the biggest declines among major tablet vendors, with shipments down 33% and 39%, respectively. Huawei ranks fifth with 1.7 million units shipped.

"although demand for tablets has fallen from its pandemic peak, it is still relatively resilient," said Himani Mukka, research manager at Canalys.
