Powered by cars in the event of a power outage, GM plans to support bidirectional charging for all Ultium platform electric vehicles in 2026

CTOnews.com August 10 News, General Motors recently issued a press release saying that it plans to support vehicle-to-home (V2H) two-way charging function for all electric vehicles produced on the Ultium platform by 2026.

The so-called two-way charging technology is in addition to the existing household power grid to charge cars, power outage at home, or reverse power supply during peak periods to meet household electricity demand.

It is unclear whether the Chevrolet Bolt based on the Ultium platform will support V2H technology.

In addition, it should be noted that GM owners need to buy one of the following three hardware bundles to achieve two-way charging in order to achieve energy transmission between vehicles and homes.
