According to the Washington Post, short links to websites including Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Substack, the New York Times and Bluesky are all restricted. Although X tweets support these external links, users will be delayed by five seconds after clicking, and then start loading the site.

CTOnews.com note: this delay setting was first discovered by Hacker News platform users who click on the "NYTimes.com" or "threads.net" link on the X platform, and the t.co short link will wait 5 seconds before loading the correct website.

The Washington Post believes that the common feature of these platforms with X speed limits is to complain about Elon Musk (Elon Musk) and take a negative attitude towards Musk.
