Net service revenue in the second quarter of 2023 was 54.1 billion yuan ($7.5 billion), an increase of 30.1 percent over the second quarter of 2022. Officials said the "core indicators fully exceeded expectations."

Operating income in the second quarter of 2023 was 8.3 billion yuan ($1.1 billion), compared with 3.8 billion yuan in the same period last year. Non-GAAP operating revenue was 8.7 billion yuan ($1.2 billion) in the second quarter of 2023, compared with 5.8 billion yuan in the second quarter of 2022. JD.com Retail's operating margin before unallocated items was 3.2 per cent in the second quarter of 2023, compared with 3.4 per cent in the second quarter of 2022.

Net income attributable to the company's common shareholders in the second quarter of 2023 was 6.6 billion yuan ($900 million), compared with 4.4 billion yuan in the same period last year. In the second quarter of 2023, non-GAAP net income attributable to the company's common shareholders was 8.6 billion yuan ($1.2 billion), compared with 6.5 billion yuan in the same period last year, a year-on-year increase of 31.9% exceeding market expectations.

Research and development spending in the second quarter of 2023 increased by 1.1% to 4.1 billion yuan ($600 million) from 4 billion yuan in the second quarter of 2022. In the second quarter of 2023, R & D accounted for 1.4 per cent of net income, compared with 1.5 per cent in the same period last year.
