CTOnews.com August 18 news, after 20 days of publicity, the EU Battery and waste Battery regulations came into effect on August 17. A striking aspect of the regulation is that from 2027, the export of power batteries to Europe will require a "battery passport" that meets the requirements.

According to the regulations, the "battery passport" is used to record the battery manufacturer, material composition, technical specifications, carbon footprint and supply chain information.

In addition, the EU Battery and waste Battery Regulation divides products into automotive batteries, electric vehicle batteries, light vehicle batteries, industrial batteries and portable batteries, and puts forward relevant requirements for all stages of the battery life cycle, covering the production and processing of raw materials, battery use and recycling of waste batteries.

CTOnews.com previously reported that the Global Battery Alliance (GBA) released the proof-of-concept of "battery passport" for the first time at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on January 18 this year. The Battery Passport, which is said to be key to promoting the rapid expansion of the sustainable, recycled and responsible battery value chain, was developed by members of the Global Battery Alliance (GBA) over a period of three years, with the ultimate goal of providing users with quality assurance of battery sustainable performance.
